Photo Encaustic is a mixed media artwork that combines a photograph with a mixture of beeswax and damar resin (a tree sap) to produce a unique work that cannot be easily replicated. Encaustics have a depth that is best appreciated in person. They also have an ‘old’ feel about them. I use beeswax from my husband’s honeybees. It is not processed or bleached. It retains the warmth of the wax just as when it was produced by the bees.
