June Wedding near Carlton

Luke and Kelly were married at his mom’s place on the Methow River just upstream from Carlton. The weather was, well, unsettled. As we drove down valley for early photos, lightning split the sky and started small fires that were quickly controlled. There were a few drops of rain every now and again and a short shower after the ceremony sent folks scurrying for the tents and the covered porch. After that the weather was nearly perfect, warm with a pleasant breeze. Overall it was a beautiful day with terrific light and happy folks from near and far.

One guest described the place as a virtual petting zoo. There were cats and kittens, dogs – including the couple’s three-legged golden retriever, goats, chickens, ducks and geese that kept everyone entertained. Overhead, swallows and Lewis’ Woodpeckers gobbled up bugs keeping them away from the guests. Pam and Joel worked hard all spring, getting the place in tip top shape with bright paint and beautiful flowers. A new gate welcomed guests into the ceremony. Raspberries and strawberries from the expansive garden were tasty additions to the food.

The couple’s friend Bubba loaned his dirt bike for photo ops. Kelly and Luke’s wedding party included both of their young sons and her father. Everyone looked terrific in black tuxes and dresses while Kelly glowed in her gorgeous dress. Cameron Green Catering provided the mouth-watering BBQ’ed chicken and ribs. And perhaps my favorite of the whole day – Joel prepared, from scratch, macaroni and cheese for over one hundred people!

Kids played on the extensive lawn. Dogs swam in the river. DJ Noah provided dance music for everyone to enjoy. People relaxed and enjoyed the sunset after dinner. What a day!
