No Power? No Problem!

Carri and Gunnar were married during one of the worst wildfire seasons this valley has seen and to top it off, the power was out from Pateros to Mazama and beyond. That didn’t stop them from celebrating their love and having a grand time with all their families and friends! Generators whirred as they prepared for the big event. Folks hauled water and coolers where ever they were needed. Caterers used propane stoves and grills. Music was provided by an iPod and a car stereo! The Goat Wall View was lovely and cool and green compared to the heat down valley from high temperatures and hot fires. It was a fun day. Many thanks to Carri and Gunnar for including us in their wedding celebration.

The Methow Valley has truly faced an enormous fire season and it’s not over. Fires continue to burn on nearly all sides. Our house nearly burned to the ground last Friday. We are grateful to all the marvelous and brave fire fighters on the ground and in the air. If it wasn’t for the resources already in the valley to fight the Carlton Complex, our house along with many more would have been destroyed. Some of our friends’ and neighbors’ homes are gone. You can see images from these fires at my personal blog – My Everday Photos. There will be more images as I get caught up on work and clean-up around here.
