Annette and Brad: Engaged!

Annette and Brad bought property high on the hills overlooking the Methow River near its confluence with the Columbia last spring. When I first heard where it was, I had to wonder – why? But when they took me there, I could easily see why they were drawn to this magical place. It is where the sage meets the pines, where the hills transistion to the mountains. Bald Eagles and other birds and wildlife live there. As soon as the snow melts, it will be blanketed with wildflowers. It’s quiet and removed from the hustle and bustle of civilization but really, it’s just a short drive away. As we walked up the hill from the car, a young eagle flew in and perched in a tall tree and then a mature Bald Eagle arrived and they left together.

Not long after they made the purchase Brad proposed in a most romantic manner, surprising Annette and delighting her at the same time. These two are obviously very much in love and excited about their future shared plans. This year they are thinking about building a cabin. And maybe someday – a retirement home. But for now, they will be busy planning a wedding and living their busy lives in western Washington.

We walked all over the hills with Brad pointing out where there is a spring and where they might want to build and where they had their camper last year. There was a fun snowball fight and snow angels too! Brad gave Annette a perfect red rose. When I left they were headed towards the horizon on their snowshoes! I loved getting to know them and learning about their land.
